2011 TEFI World Congress

Dr. Jan Louise Jones of Southern Connecticut State University, presented "VOLUNTOURISM in the Classroom" at the 2011 TEFI World Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in May. The presentation showcased original research from data we have been collecting here at VolunTourism.org for the past couple of years. The responses are generated from new subscribers to The VolunTourist Newsletter in answer to what we think is a very significant question:
"What are you most interested in learning about VolunTourism?"
Dr. Jones summarized the nine themes from the research and provided suggestions for how this research may influence the inclusion of VolunTourism in academic curriculae in the future.
VolunTourism Defined:
The conscious, seamlessly integrated combination of voluntary service to a destination and the best, traditional elements of travel — arts, culture, geography, history and recreation — in that destination. |
